GST Calculator — Add or Remove GST (India)
Free India GST calculator — add or remove 5%, 12%, 18% or 28% GST from any amount with CGST and SGST breakup.
Adding vs removing GST
Add GST when your amount is a base price and you need the final invoice value: GST = amount × rate/100.Remove GST when your amount already includes tax and you need the base: base = amount × 100/(100+rate). For intra-state supplies the tax splits equally into CGST and SGST; inter-state supplies charge the full amount as IGST instead.
Frequently asked questions
What are the GST rates in India?
The main slabs are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, with special rates like 3% for gold and 0.25% for rough precious stones. Many essentials are exempt (0%). The rate depends on the HSN/SAC classification of the goods or service.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
For sales within a state, the tax splits equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state) — e.g. 18% GST = 9% + 9%. For inter-state sales, the full amount is charged as IGST instead. This calculator shows the intra-state CGST/SGST split.
How do I remove GST from an inclusive price?
Base price = inclusive amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). For example, ₹1,180 inclusive of 18% GST has a base of ₹1,000 and ₹180 of tax — pick “Remove GST” above to do this automatically.
